Valley Education for Employment System

Grants

Valley Education for Employment System (VALEES) administers over $2 million in state and federal Career and Technical Education grant programs designed to:

  • promote partnerships among secondary schools, post-secondary schools, and businesses;
  • develop Programs of Study aligned with Illinois' Career Pathways to provide guidance as students plan their academic and career related studies;
  • offer professional development activities that promote best practices for educators;
  • support the development and implementation of CTE programs.

Career and Technical Education Improvement Grant (CTEI)

This grant provides supplemental funds to support the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education (CTE) grant and other CTE activities. The purpose of this program is to develop the academic and career and technical skills of secondary education students and postsecondary education students who elect to enroll in career and technical education programs.

Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Grant

The purpose of Perkins IV is to develop more fully the academic, career, and technical skills of secondary students and post-secondary students who elect to enroll in career and technical education programs, including career and academic preparation for special population students.

According to VALEES Coordinating Council policy, subgrantees generating less than $15,000 in Perkins funding are not direct grant reciepents. Distributions of Perkins grant funds less than $15,000 are allocated to the respective Career Center.
