Health care careers are projected to be among the top in terms of gaining the most jobs through 2018. These fast growing jobs include working in physician’s offices, home health care services for the elderly and people with disabilities, nursing care facilities, and dentist offices. The wide range of employment in health care provides great opportunities in a variety of work settings such as hospitals, labs, physician offices, and home health care. Health informatics is a growing field based on an increasing reliance on electronic information.

Students who successfully complete a Health Occupations Nurse Assistant Program through their high school or career center, and who can pass the Illinois Department of Public Health Certification examination, may be eligible for advanced college placement in the Waubonsee Community College nursing program. VALEES schools with health occupations programs that articulate with Wabash Community College’s Health and Life Sciences program include:

  • East Aurora High School
  • Fox Valley Career Center
  • Indian Valley Vocational Center
  • West Aurora High School
