Intended Audience: High School and Career Center Instructors, English Teachers, Mathematics Teachers, Counselors, Administrators, Teachers Collaborating with CTE Programs, Dual Credit Instructors, and Business/Industry Partners

Description: This all-day professional growth opportunity will allow educators and business partners to enhance their knowledge of how partnerships with students, parents, academic instructors, fine arts instructors, and business/industry representatives provide enhanced curricular opportunities for students.

This is a FREE professional development opportunity for all participants.

Six PD credits are available for participants who attend this workshop from

OPENING GENERAL SESSION

Why Should We Hire Your Students? (Brooks Harper) - Why Should We Hire Your Students? is a high-energy keynote that assists educators and career counselors in preparing students to be globally competitive in the 21st Century. Brooks hits the HEAD, HEART and FUNNY BONE inspiring us to help our students discover, develop, market and network their talents, skills and abilities that bring tangible value to the workplace. He discusses the soft skills students need to develop now in order to establish their competitive advantage.

Brooks Harper is an author, speaker and career expert. His books, Why Should We Hire You? and 7 Skills to Make Mills, are tremendous resources for students and educators. They have been incorporated into economics, business, and career-success curricula as the go-to-books for teaching interview skills, self-marketing, personal branding and soft skills development. He has spoken on hundreds of K-12 and college campuses nationwide to more than 500,000 students and educators. There are four breakout sessions offered. Please select one presentation from each session. Some breakouts are repeated in multiple sessions. Registration is limited for each breakout.

Some sessions are double blocked (120 minutes). If you register for a double blocked session, you may not register for other sessions during that time.

Breakout Session 1

Breakout Session 1 (9:30 a.m.-10:25 a.m.) - Please select one choice for the breakout session that you plan to attend. Please note: Hands-on computer sessions and business field trips are limited enrollment and are 120 minutes in length. If you register for a computer lab or business field trip in Session 1, you may NOT register for a breakout session in Session 2. Sessions may be added, deleted, and/or changed. An updated agenda will be available at registration.

Breakout Session 2

Breakout Session 2 (10:35 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) - Please select one choice for the breakout session that you plan to attend. Please note: Hands-on computer sessions and business field trips are limited enrollment and are 120 minutes in length. If you registered for a 120-minute session in Session 1, you may NOT register for a breakout session in Session 2. Sessions may be added, deleted, and/or changed.

Breakout Session 3

Breakout Session 3 (12:25 p.m.-1:20 p.m.) Please select one choice for the breakout session that you plan to attend. Please note: Hands-on computer sessions and business field trips are limited enrollment and are 120 minutes in length. If you register for a double-blocked computer lab topic or business field trip in Session 3, you may NOT register for a breakout session in Session 4. Sessions may be added, deleted, and/or changed.

Breakout Session 4 (1:30 p.m.-2:25 p.m.) Please select one choice for the breakout session that you plan to attend. If you registered for a computer lab session, business field trip or program committee meeting in Session 3, you may NOT register for a breakout session in Session 4. Sessions may be added, deleted, and/or changed.
